Electronic Medical Records (EMR) IBD Education Tool
Professional Members of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation are gastroenterologists, residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, just like you. If you would like to support IBD research, stay updated on new professional and patient education materials, and provide better care to your patients, we welcome you to join our dedicated community of IBD experts today.
Research shows “providing patient education at the point of care improves patient satisfaction and outcomes, improves quality of care, and lowers health care costs.” (Manca D. P.) However, conveying complex information without overwhelming patients can be difficult.
The EMR IBD Education Tool was created in an effort to address that challenge. The EMR IBD Education tool simplifies patient education and comprehensive communication for busy healthcare providers. With this tool, you can integrate the Foundation’s professionally vetted educational materials into Athena, Cerner, and other popular EMR systems, allowing you to search, access, and transfer patient friendly resources to patients quickly and easily.

This innovative tool was developed by Professional Members serving on the National Scientific Advisory Committee of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. The Patient Education Committee selected topical phrases while the Professional Education Committee helped with user testing and provided guidance on EMR systems.
“I enjoy working with other National Scientific Advisory Committee members as we share common goals of helping our patients with IBD. This is a unique opportunity to be able to provide resources to our members and patients suffering from Crohn’s and colitis.”
